Two local legislators and Action Wisconsin started a drive today for equal marriage rights for gays and lesbians.
Sen. Fred Risser and Rep. Mark Pocan, both Madison Democrats, announced a bill that would allow same-sex couples to legally marry in Wisconsin, substituting "spouse" for references to "husband" and "wife."
And the leader of Action Wisconsin -- a civil rights organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people -- said LGBT people will no longer quietly accept second-class citizenship.
