Feb. 12--Bumble Bee Seafoods, the San Diego-based tuna canner, said yesterday it is being sold to a Canadian company for $385 million in a deal that will create the largest branded seafood company in North America.
Though it is being sold to Connors Bros. Income Fund, a producer of canned sardines, Bumble Bee's management will take control of the merged company and be headquartered in San Diego.
Using the publicly traded structure of Connors, based in New Brunswick, Bumble Bee will have easier access to capital markets to fund expansion of the company, ...
