JACK McConnell told Scots they must "share the pain" of huge Council Tax rises yesterday - just hours before he landed a bumper pounds 2,500 pay increase.
The First Minister showed no sympathy for pensioners and low-paid workers as councils across Scotland announced inflation-busting tax rises yesterday.
Defending the Council Tax he said: "There is no such thing as a popular tax.
"We all have to share the pain."
