Die-hard Chicago Blackhawks fans often long for the days of the original six-team National Hockey League, when rivalries were intense, skating was crisp and the regular season actually meant something.
Be careful what you wish for.
A lockout by the owners when the collective bargaining agreement ends Sept. 15 is a near-certainty. That means no more NHL hockey in Chicago after mid-April, as the injury-prone, road-challenged Hawks are all but certain to miss the playoffs again.
To jaded fans, a lockout would be just another labor action in professional sports-a minor disruption that doesn't settle much in the long ...
