DUSSELDORF, Germany -- GDS, the colossal shoe show held twice a year in this wealthy, cosmopolitan city, continues to expand its role as an international crossroads for the footwear industry.
New this year is a pavilion housing Japanese shoe companies as well as an entire two-story hall devoted to serving sport shoe companies.
Though the timing of MICAM, in Milan, and the Paris' Semaine du Cuir, have created somewhat of a juggling act reminscent of the American shoe show scene, GDS's international flavor appeared to be its main draw last Friday, its first day.
