HARDWOOD FLOORING USE GOES UP

The use of hardwood flooring in residential construction has risen 246 percent over the past five years, according to figures released by the National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Assn.

Based on housing starts, hardwood flooring shipments jumped from 69.91 board feet per start in 1985 to 172.04 per start in 1990. (Figures do not include plank or parquet flooring.)
