Wisdom from Motown
I am appalled and confused by how several in Boston chose to celebrate the Patriots' victory ("From Copley to City Hall, fans celebrate," Feb. 4).
Before moving here, I lived in Detroit, a city that's somewhat of a front-runner in the genre of celebrations-gone-bad. In 1984 when the Tigers won the World Series, police cars were overturned and set ablaze, stores were looted and revelers created mass chaos. But when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 1997, 1998 and 2002, 1.5 million people took to the streets and just plain had fun. No arrests marred any of those celebrations.
