The Ukrainian Government has unanimously decided to use the oil pipeline between the port of Odessa (Black Sea) and Brody (North-West Ukraine, near the Polish border) in a South-North direction, meaning that it will carry oil from the Caspian basin towards Poland and the North-East of Europe (see European Report 2836). The Anglo-Russian company TNK-BP had proposed using the oil pipeline in the reverse direction to move heavier oil from the Urals.
