If the push to legalize gay marriage ever reaches the U.S. Senate, only one of the 15 candidates running in next month's Illinois primaries would press the "yes" button to make lawful what San Francisco officials did last week in granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Democrat Gery Chico said he supports a gay marriage measure to eliminate a patchwork of responses varying by state.
"Why should somebody go from Iowa to Illinois and have a problem? Or why should people from two different states have complications?" Chico told the Daily Herald. "I could see federal legislation making it (gay ...
