Look for way around board of trustees
To the editor: As a supporter of the Arlington Heights Smoke- Free Coalition, I have been following their uphill fight for a smoking ban with interest. I say "uphill" because there was never much chance that the village trustees would be sympathetic to their cause. Although numerous studies have shown that breathing second- hand smoke is a serious health issue, money is always involved in political decisions.
To illustrate, a few years ago I tried to make my voice heard regarding the widening of Kensington Avenue by mailing a letter to the mayor and to each person who was a trustee at that time. Not one of them had ...
