Feb. 14--WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- A Department of Veterans' Affairs commission has recommended closing inpatient facilities at the Walla Walla VA medical center, despite finding that the county lacks the kind of psychiatric care services to replace what would be lost.
Members of Washington's congressional delegation blasted the recommendation and called on Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony Principi to reject closing services in Walla Walla.
