Have you ever heard a song playing and wondered, "Where do all those sounds come from?" For every tone, there is an instrument to make it. Imagine the smack of a snare drum or the twang of a guitar.
Each instrument makes a different sound because of its shape, its size, and the material used to make it. These all affect how the instrument vibrates. What we call sounds are really vibrations that reach our ear drums.
There are 3 main types of instruments. Those that make sounds with strings, like guitars and violins, are called string instruments. You probably guessed that. But what about instruments that make sounds when you shake or hit them, such as ...
