Clara Wilmot was well into her 70s when she decided she needed something extra to keep her busy.
"She was very active in the community, so we asked her if she wanted to be village clerk," said Fabius Mayor Melanie Vilardi.
Wilmot, of Pettit Street, Fabius, was in her seventh year as village clerk when she died Saturday at the age of 82.
"She did a great job," Vilardi said. "She was always at the meetings and always on time."
Wilmot, a native of Fabius and lifelong Fabius-area resident, graduated from Fabius High School in 1939. As clerk, she was in charge of taking minutes at village board meetings, ...
