2004 FEB 25 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Men with low testosterone levels are more likely to be depressed, according to an article in the Archives of General Psychiatry.
Testosterone deficiency (hypogonadism) is a common condition in older men, occurring in 30% of men older than 55. Testosterone levels peak in early adulthood, and then decrease by approximately 1% per year after age 40. Symptoms of hypogonadism include decreased muscle mass and strength, decreased bone mineral density, diminished appetite, decreased libido, fatigue and irritability.
