Article: Preliminary probe in MiG-21 crash points to engine flameout.

New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) Preliminary investigations into the cause of the MiG-21 aircraft crash in Gujarat on Friday pointed to engine flameout, a senior Indian Air Force official said.

Group Capt A V Takurdesia said the aircraft involved in the accident was Type 96 variation which was nearing service completion in the IAF and stood almost on the verge of phase out.

The aircraft was on dummy range flying mission, and had been airborne for over 25 minutes when the pilot notices fuel starvation as he attempted a pull up manouvre and was forced to eject out, he said.
