Hynix Semiconductor Inc., the world's third-largest maker of computer memory chips, will probably earn its first consecutive quarterly profit on record because of a rebound in demand, analysts said.

Fourth-quarter net income, to be announced Thursday, will be $62 million, compared with a $779 million loss in the same period of 2002, according to the median estimate of five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News.

Operating profit will be $60 million from a year-earlier loss and sales will rise 48 percent to $940 million, according to the survey.
