Feb. 21--WASHINGTON -- The Bonneville Power Administration spent $25 million for glitch-ridden software, leading some agency critics to question its ability to manage finances and keep energy costs down.
In a report this month, the Energy Department's inspector general blasted a $25 million project to automate part of BPA's energy transmission system as poorly planned and inefficient.
BPA agrees. The inspector general "essentially got this right," said Steve Wright, BPA administrator. "The fundamental problem was inadequate planning up front."
