Fitchburg officials are trying to figure out how to meld a mottled mix of business, commercial and residential uses into an appealing community gateway.
The city is studying ways to improve the Fish Hatchery Road corridor.
More than 42,000 cars a day use Fish Hatchery Road south of the Beltline to McKee Road, according to a recent study.
"We're trying to come up with the land uses that will make it vibrant and give the area long-term stability," said Tim Anderson of Schreiber Anderson Associates, the consulting firm hired to assess the area for the city.
