WC Claim Cites Phobia Of Black Men
A 64-year-old Florida woman is seeking workers' compensation benefits for the remainder of her life after a 1986 mugging resulted in a fractured vertebra in her back and a phobia of black men.
In 1987, Ruth Jandrucko was awarded $50,000 from a Florida workers' compensation court.
Florida compensation claims Judge John G. Tomlinson Jr. ruled then that Ms. Jandrucko showed an "apparent lack of either pre-existing racial prejudice or predisposition to psychiatric illness" and ordered her employer to pay disability.
