Feb. 25--Governor McGreevey on Tuesday proposed that New Jersey become the first state to invest public funds to mine the potential of stem cells, one month after he made the state a safe haven for the controversial research.
As part of his budget proposal, McGreevey put forth plans to create the New Jersey Stem Cell Institute, which he said would propel the state to the forefront of medical research in the country.
