Mountain West Real Estate's Gateway Chula Vista may be best described as a pleasant surprise.
It's not that city leaders thought it would fail, but Jim Pieri, president and CEO of Chula Vista-based Mountain West, built something that the city's downtown didn't have--a large Class A office building.
The first of three buildings that make up the $80 million, 361,000-square-foot office complex opened in 2002 at Third Avenue and H Street. Construction of the second building began last month.
