WHEN Jeremy Vine heard he was to take over from Jimmy Young on Radio 2, just over a year ago, he asked the broadcasting veteran to have lunch with him. Jimmy wrote back saying he was 'too busy'.

They've still not met, but Jeremy has remained intrigued by what he calls 'Jimmy's magic ingredient' which endeared him to millions of listeners during his 29 years on the programme. So, three months ago, he decided to try to find out what it was all about.
