Catherine Dowdell was surprised last week when her picture flashed across a screen during a Black History Month program at the Southwest Community Center.
Dowdell, 66, was one of seven seniors honored Feb. 18 at the center for community service.
Dowdell and her peers are regulars at Clover Corner, a senior recreation program run at the Southwest center by Huntington Family Centers.
"I think it was cute," said Dowdell, who has been a regular at the program for seven years.
"I think it's important to recognize older people and let people know where they came from, and where they're going," ...
