Manila (dpa) - Communist rebels must end their attacks and sign a peace agreement with the Philippine government before the United States removes them from its blacklist of foreign terrorists, a senior diplomat said Monday.
US Embassy Charge d' Affaires Joseph Mussomeli said the guerrillas ''would have to demonstrate that they have, not only in words, but in deeds, renounced terrorism'' before the terrorist tag could be lifted.
''We are a long way from that right now,'' he told reporters when asked about the communist rebels' demand for them to be removed from Washington's foreign terrorists list. ''They have to reach a peace accord, they have to stop ...
