WASHINGTON -- Analysts say Exxon Mobil's promotion of upstream chief Rex Tillerson to the position of company president is a clear sign that Tillerson will succeed Lee Raymond as chief executive, perhaps within a year or two.
Tillerson, 51, was elected president of the Texas supermajor and a member of its board of directors at a regularly scheduled meeting of Exxon Mobil's board on Feb. 25.
The position of president did not exist under Raymond prior to Tillerson's promotion. Exxon Mobil officially refused to say whether Tillerson would succeed Raymond or when Raymond, 65, would leave the company. Spokeswoman Lauren Kerr said that other than becoming a ...
