Neurocrine Biosciences has released promising results from a Phase III trial evaluating an immediate-release formulation of its indiplon in elderly patients with chronic insomnia.

The randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel group, outpatient study assessed the safety and efficacy of 5mg and 10mg immediate-release indiplon in 360 patients. Subjects were evaluated over a two-week treatment period and were eligible to continue in a six-month open-label extension of this trial, noted the company.
