Lawmakers may soften law on workplace safety, SB 198
The outcry over California's Illness and Injury Prevention Program has been heard loud and clear in Sacramento.
As a result, San Diego businesses, as well as those in the rest of the state, may soon be getting a reprieve from the burdensome safety regulations that took effect two months ago.
Bills that have been introduced in the Legislature would give many businesses until the end of the year to comply with the law, exempt violators from prosecution until October 1992 and exempt some businesses from the law altogether.
