La Jolla Ritz-Carlton: It's not dead, just resting
Rumors about the death of the Ritz-Carlton, planned for the La Jolla Blackhorse Farms site, are grossly exaggerated, according to a partner in the development.
The hotel remains on hold until the Conference Resort Investment Partnership secures a construction loan, said the partner, John O'Brien.
Plans include a 210-room conference hotel on a 9.5-acre site across Torrey Pines Road from UC San Diego.
Financing discussions are continuing. O'Brien declined to name names but said discussions are under way with banks in the United States as well as Europe and Japan. "It's tough out there ...
