Marie Louise Miller Braun is on the move again, getting things done, working to make the world a little easier to maneuver in and a bit more hospitable for her and people like her.
Having a good set of wheels makes all the difference, she says. In her case, that means a high-tech wheelchair with a $14,000 price tag.
Marie was born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy 50 years ago in Breathitt County, Ky. It was a time when the institution was thought to be the thing for people like Marie. She was 4 when her family sent her away, to the old Frankfort State Hospital, and later to Redwood School in Fort Mitchell.
