Feb. 27--Unless the San Joaquin Valley increases its number of high-wage jobs, the local economy will continue to struggle, shows a report about the eight-county region.
"The story here is the persistence of low wages," said Jim King of JK Inc., director of the San Joaquin Valley Regional Economy Report. "There's too many people moving in, and they can't find higher-wage jobs."
King presented the analysis of state Economic Development Department data Wednesday to about 150 people at Grand Occasions on Jacquelyn Avenue near the Costco on Shaw Avenue.
