Any time Harper sophomore Pat Monaghan considers slacking off instead of shooting jump shots, a little voice goes off on his head.
The voice is his dad's, telling him that when he's not working on his game, his competition is.
The voice might as well have had laryngitis of late.
Monaghan made sure no one outworked him this summer.
"I spent all my time at Lifetime Fitness," Monaghan said. "I lifted, did my shooting workouts and scrimmaged every day."
The result of all his sweat and toil can be found in his statistics: 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals per game.
