Ex-MMBDC chief adds New Center Stamping to stable; Seller cites contacts, certification.(News)

Former Michigan Minority Business Development Council President Ron Hall has another auto supplier in his portfolio.

Hall acquired a 51 percent interest in New Center Stamping Inc., a plant that bangs out replacement body parts for cars. New Center, based in Detroit, is awaiting minority certification from the MMBDC. Terms were not disclosed, but New Center reported $16 million in 2003 revenue. The deal closed in mid-December.

New Center founder Greg Smith sold a majority to Hall not only because the minority certification could help the company secure more bid invitations, but because of Hall's contacts.
