Feb. 28--Peach grower Tom Bentley knows better than anyone that one night can change a person's life.
It has happened to him twice.
In 1968, he missed a tour in Thailand during the Vietnam War when a house fire killed his 15-year-old sister, Susan, the night before he was scheduled to leave. Bentley barely escaped with his life that night.
The second time came in March 2003, when a freeze in the middle of the night killed 98 percent of his peach crop. And while this was nothing compared with the tragedy of losing his sister, the loss of his crop ...
