Designer Tricia Guild is often called the queen of color, and her reign has been a long one. It was clear from the start of her career that this aspect of her art would be a primary focus. As a neophyte decorator in 1970, she was so dissatisfied with the limited hues and shades available that she started Designers Guild to fill the gap. Her first collection was a group of traditional hand-blocked Indian prints that she recolored. After two years, Guild had a store on London's Kings Road from which she designed interiors and sold her own fabrics.
