Southland: Economy remains strong
It seems to be fashionable to bash California.
The hits have come not only from the national media, but also from local media, academicians, and business sources. Attacks are also coming from other states hoping to lure away California businesses. They all claim the Golden State is no longer golden.
The truth is, other regions really can't compete with Southern California and all it has to offer. There are many reasons for businesses to come to the area -- and just as many reasons for businesses to stay. In fact, Fortune magazine in 1989 named Los Angeles as one of the nation's top 10 places for business.
