World crude steel production for the 63 countries reporting to the International Iron and Steel Institute, Brussels, Belgium, stood at an estimated 81.2 million metric tons (mmt) in November. Global production increased by 6.7 percent compared to November 2002 and by 6.9 percent year-to-date.
Chinese production of crude steel rose to 20.5 mmt in November. This is 23.3 percent higher than the same month in 2002. Year-to-date production in China was 200.2 mmt through November.
Asian crude steel production stood at 37.9 mmt in November, or 12.4 percent higher than November 2002 and 12.1 percent higher year to date. Total production for the region from ...
