GALLATIN COUNTY -- On the day Lee Ann Brooks' parents brought her home from the maternity ward, the family dog was along for the ride. His name was Ike, and he was a boxer.
Lee Ann doesn't claim to actually remember it. But she's sure that, somewhere in her subconscious, Ike made an impression. Obviously, she says, the notion of breeding boxers was imprinted on her at birth.
"It's the best explanation I have," she says, half winking.
It's been quite a ride, she says, a quarter-century in the making, culminating in a championship a few weeks ago at the venerable Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show ...
