Elvira Rosas, 80, has lived in the United States for more than 35 years but only recently started taking English classes.
While it's possible for her to live out her life without ever speaking the language of her adopted country, Rosas said she is tired of feeling chiquitita, or small, when she can't join in the conversation when her son and daughter-in-law have English-speaking friends over.
So now the Argentina native is taking the time to learn it.
Her Colombian friend, Gilma Gomez, 82, drives Rosas to the East Valley Multipurpose Senior Center once a week in North Hollywood to learn English ...
