Every cadet at West Point and, I assume, pretty much any other college or university with pretentions to producing the officer class of our Armed Services learned the Nine Principles of War. My classmates and I learned these principles by means of a simple abbreviation: MOSS MOUSE. Thus we have: Mass, Objective, Surprise, Simplicity Maneuver, Offensive, Unity of Command, Security, Economy of Force.
Mr. Alexander, without saying so directly, somewhat incorporates these principles into his 13 reasons wars are won. From "Land an Overwhelming Blow," to "Defend, Then Attack," he cites historical ...
