The matter is certainly less in the media than the US case, but the European Commission should determine whether the Canadian and Australian demands, in terms of transferring the personal data of air passengers, are compatible with EU legislation on data protection. If need be, it will adopt an adequacy finding, to grant a sufficient degree of protection for data transmitted to these countries and formally authorising airlines to give access to this data.
