The matter is certainly less in the media than the US case, but the European Commission should determine whether the Canadian and Australian demands, in terms of transferring the personal data of air passengers, are compatible with EU legislation on data protection. If need be, it will adopt an adequacy finding, to grant a sufficient degree of protection for data transmitted to these countries and formally authorising airlines to give access to this data. The same procedure as occurred with the US is thus going ahead: discussions have taken place between the European Commission and these two countries to determine conditions which would allow the adoption of a Decision ...
