Four Toy Firms Post Quarter Results
For the second quarter ended June 30, Lewis Galoob Toys, Inc., narrowed its loss to $6,291,000, against a year-ago loss of $8,271,000. Results for the latest quarter are after $782,000 in preferred stock dividends and also include $3.4 million in nonrecurring costs related to litigation with Nintendo of America and expenses related to David Galoob, the company's former chairman and chief executive officer.
Sales for the quarter rose 18.2 percent to $33,517,000. The gains came primarily from stabilization of Galoob's core brand, Micro Machines, and continued success of Baby Face, a line of collectible dolls introduced this year.
