One thing I love about Texas is that you can hunt spring turkeys with just about any gun. There are those who would oppress us with their narrow view of how turkey hunting should be done, but I like to try it first and then make up my mind. One gun I had not used to shoot a spring turkey was a muzzleloading rifle, and Texas seemed like a great place to fix that.
My gun of choice for this hunt was a Thompson/Center Encore 209x50. I knew that total reliability and precision accuracy were the most important qualities here. This gun has never failed me and will shoot minute of angle groups, so it seemed like the logical choice.
