Eager for less volatile energy prices and cleaner fuels, Caribbean nations are beginning to explore the possibilities of importing natural gas. Despite the challenges of a complex seafloor and small, fragmented markets, one of the biggest hurdles will be to compete with the US East Coast's huge and growing gas appetite.
Trinidad & Tobago's government is actively seeking markets in other Caribbean countries, either for liquefied natural gas (LNG), or piped gas exports.
