In the town of Pompey, the Scott Chatfield saga continues.
Chatfield, who was rehired by the town planning board Feb. 12 after the town board Feb. 2 chose not to rehire him to represent them, is now at the center of a controversy over the formulas the town uses to compensate lawyers for the town board, planning board and zoning board.
In recent years, when Chatfield was the lawyer for all three boards, he was paid a base salary of $31,200. In 2002 and 2003, the town allocated a base salary of $17,400 for the townwide attorney, $6,000 for the zoning board attorney and $7,800 for the planning board attorney.
