Deb Hauser spent most of Wednesday with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step.
Included among her duties as director of the 29th annual WIAA girls state basketball tournament was overseeing the shootaround session at the Coliseum at the Alliant Center.
A glance at the list of teams and coaches revealed eight female head coaches among the 20 schools in the field, ranging from Brookfield East's Lindy Kemp, who is in her 35th season, to Ashwaubenon's Kerry Janquart, who is in her second.
That is a change from the years when Milwaukee Washington's Pam Kruse often was one of the few female coaches in the state ...
