NEW YORK, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- In stark contrast to generally held perceptions about conservatives and stem cell research, conservative voters are not unanimously opposed to broadening embryonic stem cell research in the U.S., according to a poll made public today by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In fact, the study showed, a greater percentage of conservative voters polled support embryonic stem cell research than oppose it, and would favor a broadened policy for federal funding of scientific investigation using embryonic stem cells that would otherwise be discarded from fertility clinics.
