Mar. 11--The Economic Development Corp. of Utah will spend more time recruiting retail tenants to boost sales tax revenues, Salt Lake County Mayor Nancy Workman announced Wednesday.
EDCU, funded largely by Salt Lake County, in the past has focused on higher-paying employers, avoiding employers that typically pay low wages such as retailers and call centers.
"The core focus for us will still be on high-wage situations," said Chris Roybal, chief executive officer of EDCU. "But we're committed to taking on this additional assignment as well."
