Mar. 12--A consortium of steel companies plans to build a $33 million fabrication plant at the Port of Vancouver, provided the enterprise can win a contract to build the deck on the new east span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
The work has the potential to bring 300 new union jobs to the region and has an estimated economic impact of $51.6 million.
The consortium, doing business as Bay Bridge Fabricators, should know by late summer or early fall if it has won the $300 million contract from the California Department of Transportation. It is ...
