The general manager of the Peruvian Derivados del Maiz company, Mr. Alejandro Leon y Leon, says that the prices in the canned fish sector have already hit bottom and are beginning to recover. The price war over the last year was the result of the entry of new brands into the sector and an excess of offer in a market where consumption was down. Mr. Leon y Leon expects an upswing in sales this year. Domestic consumption of canned fish in Peru is around 3mil cases per year, valued at US$70mil. In ...
