DALLAS _ One of the key players in American Airlines Inc.'s battle to survive last spring has won approval to stay on another four years.
John Ward beat his nearest challenger by only five votes in a razor-thin recount Friday to remain president of American's flight attendants' union.
"I'm extremely humbled by the support of the membership," Ward said in an interview. "A year ago at this time, my detractors said I was going to be put out of town on a rail, so to say. It didn't turn out that way."
